Student Spotlight Yuriana Gutierrez

Coachella Valley Adult School
Yuriana Gutierrez was enrolled in the High School Independent Studies Program in March 2025. She needed to complete the final 15 credits required for her high school diploma. Despite having significant responsibilities working daily to support her family’s business, she consistently set aside some time to focus on her academic goals and diligently complete her assignments.
Yuriana Gutierrez is a resilient and dedicated student. Although she faced some health issues during her senior year that delayed her graduation, she did not let these setbacks deter her. Instead, she explored alternative paths and enrolled in the Adult School, where she worked responsibly and is now on track to be a high school graduate this June.

Although she is only 18 years old, she possesses qualities that set her apart, including a strong work ethic, reliability, and personal responsibility. In addition to taking online classes, she chose to attend Adult School two to three times per week to stay focused and improve her academic performance. She successfully completed her coursework by demonstrating excellent time management skills and unwavering commitment. She is the kind of student who reminds educators why we do this work.
